As one of Queensland’s most progressive and respected community support services, QHVSG has many exciting and important opportunities available for capable, compassionate and committed volunteers to be involved at a grassroots Member Support and Special Events Fundraising level. We are a unique organisation that delivers an important and necessary service to families living in the aftermath of homicide, and while there are many worthwhile causes, because ours deals with such a sensitive issue, we require volunteers with an enormous level of professionalism, empathy and commitment to our cause. People with a range of life wisdom and experiences are always needed for various roles, and we welcome enquiries from members of the community who may wish to volunteer their time and energy to support the work we do. So please, if you have regular time each month – regardless of it being a few hours or several – and you are interested in social justice or simply want to support one person through an incredibly traumatic time, we would love to hear from you.
Also, a Big THANK YOU to Ivan, who continues to organise the Gold Coast BBQs for members to gather informally. Also congratulations to Monique, Gai, Julie and Ilaria and to Gold Coast Hot Tomato Radio 102.9 for organising another BBQ fundraiser for QHVSG.
Since then there have been several more successful fundraiser BBQ’s, with the Harvey Norman BBQ set for 10 January 2015. Team Gold Coast is certainly ready to have a special year with congratulations going to Monique for accepting a seat on our Board of Management for 2015. Also on Sunday 4th January Stafford Bunnings have confirmed a fundraising BBQ for our group. Thank you to Bunnings, Hot Tomato Radio 102.9 and Harvey Norman for all your support.

Gold Coast is their beautiful home Gai has another daughter Natalie and a son Phillip. Gai also runs a family day care for young children during the day; the children bring lots of fun and laughter and keep her busy. Gai mentioned she had her first weekend off in 2015 as she and Monique generously spend their weekends at BBQ’s raising money for QHVSG. During her weekend off Gai was able to catch up on housework!
