Many people often feel afraid to offer their support to someone who is going through this unique form of grief because the truth is, few of us are prepared or equipped to deal with the horror of homicide, but we encourage you to become informed about what you can do to help those you care about most. One of the biggest fears those left behind have is that their family and friends will turn away from them at the very time they are needed most. The words we use, the words we don’t use; our presence or our absence, and our ability to provide unconditional and non-judgmental love at this time are all things that greatly weigh in on the fragile minds of families and friends touched by homicide.
