“Just as despair can come to one only from other human beings, hope too can be given to one only by other human beings.”
~ Elie Wiesel
The loss of a loved one, particularly through homicide, is not only profoundly devastating it can also be a very isolating experience for many victims.
The benefits of peer support cannot be underestimated and it is our aim to begin bridging this gap and assisting members to become reconnected with community, make new connections and find support and strength in the company of fellow members.
In addition to the phone, group and court support provided by Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group (QHVSG), we are piloting a program in which members will have the opportunity to be put in touch with other members in similar circumstances for ongoing and more intimate support.
This service will be highly confidential, facilitated initially by QHVSG, and provided only to members who express direct consent and wish to participate in the program.
If you are interested in this program and would like more information about how to get involved, please contact your local support coordinator.
For any other information or support, please also feel free to contact us at anytime on the 24 hour free-call support line, 1800 774 744.
