Queensland Homicide Awareness Month 2014

QHVSG has just completed its most successful Awareness Month ever, with Attorney General, Jarrod Bleije announcing the repeal of the Double Jeopardy Laws at the official launch on 1 May; this was a wonderful legislative outcome for not only our Members but all Queenslanders. The month brought focus to the many lives lost in our State each year due to homicide and QHVSG once again drew on its evocative shoe display in King George Square, bringing home how every life stolen had their own unique and personal story to tell.  A variety of other public speaking engagements and OPCK awareness presentations were also undertaken during the month to help increase awareness on the complete devastation that homicide has on those left behind, to raise much needed funding for the ongoing support of those families, and to garner greater consideration in legislative review processes. An enormous effort and a HUGE thank you to all involved.
