A NEW nationwide inquiry into the security industry will focus on ways to make night-life safer and preventing one-punch deaths like that of cricketer David Hookes.

Notorious for its links to bikie gangs and organised crime, the industry’s training system for bouncers will come under scrutiny by the Australian Skills Quality Authority.

ASQA chief commissioner Chris Robinson said the review is in response to a community outcry over violent bashing carried out by bouncers as well as coronial inquest findings in NSW, Queensland and Victoria.
